The concert on October 14, 2025, at the French Academy - Villa Medici, organized by the Cultural association I Concerti nel Parco, will feature Alessandro Scarlatti's Oratorio Judith.
Alessandro Scarlatti's (1660–1725) Judith is an oratorio based on the biblical narrative, composed in two main versions in 1695 and 1697. This dramatic work uses a rich vocal and instrumental writing to express the emotions of the three main characters who are Judith, the Nurse, and Holofernes, focusing on female courage and rebellion against oppression. In the work, the composer employs all the means of his splendid and multi-colored instrumental and vocal writing to emphasize the dramatic passages.
The festival program, under the artistic direction of the Roma Tre Orchestra, includes a series of concerts, most of which are free, featuring compositions from the vast repertoire based on Catholic liturgical texts, as well as other musical pieces, vocal or instrumental, with a clear spiritual inspiration.
Silvia Frigato, soprano; Marta Pacifici, contralto. Cappella Musicale Villa Medici.
