Every Holy Year is an important opportunity to redevelop urban spaces, enhance the architectural heritage and upgrade roads and infrastructure, improving the quality of life for city residents and the visitor experience for pilgrims. The free exhibition organized at the Acquario Romano - Casa dell’Architettura by the Order of Architects of Rome and Province in collaboration with Chiesa Oggi, with the support of the National Office for Cultural Heritage and Religious Buildings of the CEI - Italian Episcopal Conference, illustrates the works carried out in Rome for the 2025 Jubilee, with particular attention to contemporary sacred architecture.
Alongside the most significant projects completed in preparation for the Jubilee, the exhibition also features a selection of new churches built in the city and throughout Italy over the last 25 years, following design competitions organized by dioceses and the Italian Episcopal Conference (CEI) to foster dialogue between clients and designers and encourage the exchange of ideas, skills and visions. Among the Roman churches featured are, for example, Santa Maria della Presentazione (Nemesi Architects, 2002) in Via di Torrevecchia, Santa Maria delle Grazie (Garofalo Miura Architetti, 2016) in Via Nomentana Nuova and San Pio da Pietrelcina (Anselmi e Associati, 2010) in the Malafede district. One section of the exhibition is dedicated to projects that have not yet been realized, offering a glimpse into the future of sacred architecture in Italy.
