Parco d'affaccio di Ostia Antica

A naturalistic and cultural experience, in which the discovery of Rome's river merges with the area's millenary history: one and a half hectares of parkland at the water's edge, offering an unforgettable walk in the Tiber's biodiversity with benches, picnic areas, evocative terraces and a berth for boats arriving from the centre of Rome, combining nature, tourism and sustainable mobility.

Inaugurated on 17 May 2025, the third of the five parks overlooking the Tiber, created by Roma Capitale with Jubilee funds, is a place to live in the midst of nature, perfect for regenerating walks, cycling or simply enjoying a unique panorama, in direct contact with the excavations of the Ostia Antica Archaeological Park, whose accessibility has been widened by creating a nature reserve, thanks to its habitat of high ecological quality.

Citizens and tourists alike can therefore immerse themselves in nature as they ride along the new 700-metre-plus looped bicycle and pedestrian path, enhanced by scenic rest stops.

Its already thriving ecosystem has seen the planting of more than 300 new trees and more than 550 aromatic and ornamental plants - roses, laurel, lavender, sage and rosemary - and the reduction of invasive and pest components to encourage the growth of flora typical of the river environment, with ferns, reeds and hygrophilous woodland.

The Parco d'affaccio di Ostia Antica (Ostia Antica Overlook Park) is also a paradise for those who love to experience nature in complete relaxation: here, in fact, you can observe a truly rich and varied fauna moving in its natural habitat. Among the mammals, you can count foxes, porcupines, weasels, hares, wild boar and roe deer. Among the birds, whether nesting or migratory, are red herons, marsh harriers, skimmers, bitterns, little grebes, turtle-doves and shovelers. Among the reptiles are water turtles and tortoises.

The Parco d'affaccio di Ostia Antica can be reached either along Via Gherardo or via the inner jetty.
