The parish was erected on 25 April 1951 by decree of Cardinal Vicar Francesco Marchetti Selvaggiani Percrescente incolarum and entrusted to the Regular Clerics of the Mother of God. The parish church was inaugurated by H.E. Monsignor Camillo Ruini, Pro Vicar General of His Holiness, on 19 May 1991.
The territory, taken from that of S. Felice da Cantalice in Centocelle, was determined within the following boundaries: Via Tuscolana (corner of Via di Torrespaccata) - Via di Torrespaccata - then, crossing Via Casilina, Via di Tor Tre Teste as far as the Acquedotto Alessandrino - said Acquedotto from Via di Tor Tre Teste to Via di Torrenova - Via di Torrenova from the Acquedotto Alessandrino to Via Casilina - then, crossing Via Casilina again, Via di Tor Vergata - Via Tuscolana from Via di Tor Vergata to the corner with Via di Torrespaccata.
Recognition for civil effects was decreed on 3 June 1956. The building complex, owned by the Pont. Opera per la Preservazione della Fede e la Provision di nuove Chiese in Roma, was designed by Tullio Rossi.
