The parish of St Charles of Sezze is the result of an extraordinary intervention of Divine Providence.It all started with the inspiration to build a centre for young people. Having entrusted the idea of the centre to the then Cardinal Ugo Poletti, Fr Mario Torregrossa was told that he had to build a church for the neighbourhood, which had a population of around 3,000 and reached a peak of 25-30,000 after a few years.The search for benefactors then began, always guided by prayer and the signs the Lord gave to encourage the work to be carried out. Thus in 1987 the church was inaugurated, and in 1993 the Youth Training Centre Our Lady of Loreto - House of Peace.Fr Mario was its parish priest until 1 October 2005, when he assumed the role of director of the youth centre he had founded. After 26 years, he left the care of the parish to Fr Fabrizio Centofanti.Fr Mario passed away on 30 December 2008 at the age of 64 after an intense, dramatic and happy life dedicated directly to his neighbour.On the day of his funeral, celebrated by the Cardinal Vicar of His Holiness Agostino Vallini, on 2 January 2009, while Don Mario was brought to the church from the Centre, where he was watched over by the entire community, at 8.30 a.m. the sky looked like the photo, which is meant to be the emblem of this blog, in honour of our founder and spiritual father.
