The parish of St. Bonaventure of Bagnoregio, which in 2024 celebrated its 50th anniversary since its foundation (1974-2024), is a point of reference, aggregation, meeting and communion for the community of the Torre Spaccata district.A parish focused on listening, welcoming and service, fundamental characteristics to create a sense of belonging and sharing. In response to the multiple needs of the neighbourhood, it proposes various parish activities, involving all age groups, attentive to all issues, in a spirit of collaboration with other social actors and institutions in the area, with which it shares an educational responsibility.Caritas, which has been present for more than thirty years, offers a listening centre and every Thursday morning, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, is committed to offering basic necessities to those in difficulty and, at important times of the liturgical year (Advent, Lent), proposes and sensitises the community to be generous, also involving the local schools. It also organises moments and initiatives aimed at the elderly, lonely people (solidarity lunches) and children of families in difficulty (Adopt a little letter).The various activities and meeting opportunities offered by paths such as the Bible Catechesis and Family Pastoral Care (Family Group, path for married couples and wounded families) become a place for common perspectives.A workshop for children, between life and faith, is the oratory, whose activities take place every Sunday morning, after Holy Mass animated by a liturgical choir, in close collaboration with the Christian Initiation path for preparation for the Sacraments of Communion and Confirmation, as well as offering a summer oratory service in June and July. In addition, to strengthen and enhance the formative experience in the Christian life of older people, there is the adolescent group (post-Confirmation) and the youth group, where young people come together to experience moments of faith, sharing, joy and fun. Obviously, in a parish that is open to the neighbourhood, a meeting place dedicated to children with difficulties could not be missing. Together with normal children, on Saturday afternoons from 3.30 to 5.00 p.m., they engage in vegetable therapy in the parish garden and other collective activities, to promote inclusive and socialising experiences.In addition, all those activities aimed at combating educational poverty and creating a more supportive neighbourhood community are fundamental: the free after-school club (the Academy of Growth), the Basketball and 5-a-side football courses dedicated to the most fragile, the Rugby workshop and the cultural association E' tutta scena, a theatre company that acts as a reference point in the neighbourhood in the field of the performing arts, with its shows presented in the John Paul II parish theatre.So, a Church that is like a house always open to all searching hearts, as Pope Francis says, and the rock on which this parish is founded is perpetual Adoration in the church chapel, always open to invite people to meet Christ. Adoration is ensured by a network of adorers, who from Monday to Friday from 9.00 to 22.00 and on Saturdays from 9.00 to 18.00, spend time in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament.
