It was established as a vicarage on 1 October 1974 and elevated to parish status on 10 November 1978 by decree of Cardinal Vicar Ugo Poletti. The construction of the church was started in 1989 according to the plans of architect Luigi Leoni and Father Costantino Ruggeri. The church was consecrated by Cardinal Vicar Camillo Ruini on 14 November 1993.
The church has a sloping shape towards the altar, which is constantly illuminated by the stained glass windows that envelop the entire structure. The tabernacle, which until 2009 was located inside the altar, is now in a niche near the entrance. Below the building is a chapel containing a marble altar and a wooden crucifix.
The pipe organ was built by the Tamburini company in 1992; with electric transmission, it has 21 registers on two manuals and a pedal, with a total of approximately 1600 pipes.
