Chiesa di Sant'Agapito

The church was built in the area where there was once a church dedicated to the martyrs Agapitus and Felicisimus, both of whom were buried by Pope Sixtus II in the Pretestato cemetery in 258.
Built by Pope Felix III around 490, it was later restored by Popes Adrian I and Leo III, but nothing more was heard of it afterwards. In the Taxae viarum of 1609, the area was named Valle di Sant'Agapito.
The present church, the parish seat since 1962 and entrusted to the diocesan clergy, looks like a simple shed-shaped building; inside, it bears a wooden sculpture by Perathoner (St. Anthony Abbot) and a painting by Bedini, the Baptism.
