With Caffè Ciampini’s view from the top of Trinità dei Monti, dominating Rome’s Great Beauty, it’s difficult to imagine a more spectacular place to enjoy breakfast, a romantic dinner, or an aperitif as the sun sets over the rooftops of the Eternal City. 

That said, it’s the Ciampini family’s tradition to offer excellent food and drinks in unique locations. It was grandfather Giuseppe and his wife, Francesca, who gave life to the famous restaurant Tre Scalini, in what was once the Stadium of Domitian, before being transformed into the magnificent Piazza Navona, theater of artistic challenges between the greatest sculptors in Italy’s history. Giuseppe made tasty dishes and delicacies to live up to the beauty around him, such as his delicious Truffle ice cream, the unrivaled delicacy of dark chocolate with a cherry center, which made his restaurant famous, and still today spoils the palate of Caffè Ciampini’s patrons. 

Giuseppe’s son, Nando, then took over the business, and jealously guarded his father's recipes for fifty years. When Nando's son, Marco, was given the opportunity to take over Terrazza Ciampini at the end of the 1980s, he didn’t hesitate, continuing to offer customers the unique experience of savoring the Ciampinis culinary art while overlooking an enchanting panorama. 

This new adventure began in 1989, and today it is carried on proudly by his son, Marco. Treasuring everything he has learnt from his family, as well as his impeccable staff, the amicable owner selects only the best ingredients for creating gourmet salads, appetizing first courses, succulent main courses of Danish meat or fresh fish, or a delicious fragrant pizza, ending, of course, with a selection of irresistible desserts, the most notable being their famous ice cream, made entirely with natural ingredients and fresh milk. All seasoned with extremely skillful care.
