Castel Sant'Angelo welcomes the fourth edition of the event Under the Angel of the Castle: dance, music, show promoted by the General Director of Museums, Massimo Osanna, and curated by Anna Selvi. The event, which offers a series of shows including dance, music and theatre, also with internationally renowned artists, is part of the program to enhance the monument and its evocative spaces.
Within this year's programme, always very rich, we would like to point out in particular the show on 10th July Smarrita e Soave (Lost and sweet), in which, on the occasion of the anniversary of the death of Emperor Hadrian in 138 AD, Roberto Latini is the voice of Adriano and other poets, accompanied by the music of Gianluca Misiti, performed live by Luisiana Lorusso (violin) and Claudia Della Gatta (cello). On July 18th it is the turn of Alessandro Quarta, the world-famous Italian violinist, multi-instrumentalist and composer who presents, together with Giuseppe Magagnino (piano), Franco Chirivì (guitar), Michele Colaci (double bass) and Cristian Martina (drums) the his new project No Limits Quintet. On July 24th, however, we remember the first event for families: the theatrical work by Tonio De Nitto, Hamelin, with Fabio Tinella, inspired by the Pied Piper by the Brothers Grimm. The show won the 2023 Eolo Award as best show dedicated to children and teenagers. On August 27th you can’t miss Mimmo Cuticchio, with The Iliad or the redemption of Priam: an example of the Puppet Opera, recognized by UNESCO as an intangible heritage of humanity since 2001, here with the music specially written by Giacomo Cuticchio.
On 13 September in the Library room one of the most extraordinary pieces by Claudio Monteverdi will be staged on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of its first performance: The combat of Tancredi and Clorinda, directed by Fabio Cherstich, choreography by Philippe Kratz, presented by National Choreographic Center / Aterballetto. The project, winner of the tender for the valorisation of the Directorate General for Entertainment, is carried out in seven museum sites from north to south of Italy, with a premiere on 12 September at the National Archaeological Museum and Roman Theater of Spoleto.
Finally, at the end of the event, we would like to remind you that on 24, 25 and 26 September the Nanou Group will offer the traveling performance Paradise to the public of Castel Sant'Angelo on 24, 25 and 26 September, with choreographies by Marco Valerio Amico and Rhuena Bracci. The group, which has become famous for its choreography, where body, sound and image find a common language, collaborates with the visual artist Alfredo Pirri, who takes care of the scene of the project, and the Italian musician Bruno Dorella, founder of several musical groups.
