The Waldensian Evangelical Church

Chiesa Evangelica Valdese

Located in Rione Trevi, between Via Nazionale and Piazza Venezia, the Waldensian Evangelical Church was the first place of worship built by the Waldensians in Rome.

Inaugurated in 1884, it is the work of the architect Benedetto Pandolfi who designed it in neo-Romanesque style outside and eclectic style - Neo-Renaissance style , Neoclassical style, and Neo-Romanesque style - inside.

The church has a single rectangular room surmounted by a coffered ceiling. On the sides, you can admire two rows of mullioned windows - those on the right are fake - with stained glass windows representing the symbols of the Waldensian Church and of the reformed churches of Scotland and the Netherlands.

The excellent acoustics of the environment allows the church to host musical and concert activities. These are often performed with the precious pipe organ opus 698 of the temple, a historic asset  built in 1954 by the Carlo Vegezzi Bossi company. It serves as a solo instrument or accompaniment to the musical performances of vocal and instrumental ensembles.
