The Contemporanea event, the Season of Musica per Roma Foundation at the Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone dedicated to contemporary music, is renewed in 2024.
The musical review includes several concerts, many of which focus on the PMCE - Parco della Musica Contemporanea Ensemble, the formation directed by Tonino Battista dedicated to the performance of the musical repertoire included in the time span from the post-World War II period to today.
The program includes, in addition to the performance of music by great masters of the past, works by new composers and new projects. Among the latter, for example, the double bass ensemble Ludus Gravis, born from the artistic partnership between Daniele Roccato and Stefano Scodanibbio which, since its debut, has represented a real novelty in the contemporary European musical panorama. Or the Newborn project, with Roberto Negro, Michele Rabbia and the Ensemble Intercontemporain, which, transcending the various genres, mixes modern jazz, improvisation and contemporary compositions. Finally, we would like to highlight the new creation of the Figli d'Arte Cuticchio Association, Histoire du Soldat by Igor Stravinskij. At the centre of the story are the evil actions of the Devil against a naive Soldier who wishes to spend the fifteen days of leave with his mother and girlfriend in his hometown; the young soldier carries with him only an old violin, which he plays with feeling. Thus the plot develops into a story full of poetry, thanks to the voice of Mimmo Cuticchio, which is intertwined with the cadences of the "cuntu" (plot) and with the charm of music.
