An exhibition dedicated to the encounter between the city of Rome and the language of photography. At the Museo di Roma in Trastevere 15 Roman photographers, chosen by a committee of experts, document the complexity, changes and specificities of the Capital through individual and specific “visual narratives” that represent an original and in its own way unique reconnaissance of a large part of the city. The works draw, in fact, a long itinerary to discover a new and at the same time ancient Rome, always surprising.
The exhibition was born as a photographic campaign launched by Leica Camera Italia in collaboration with Contrasto in 2022, to verify what the real and imaginary boundaries of a city that has always been portrayed, photographed, represented and evoked, but in constant transformation. The chosen photographers, each equipped with a Leica camera selected according to their needs and accompanied by the five “tutors” who followed them on their different paths, chose a theme, a particular itinerary, their own vision of Rome.
Far from the usual and shared imagery, as from the most usual routes, in these works Rome appears as a territory traveled daily that subjects everyone's identity to continuous verification. A place where aesthetic suggestions, visual references and new aspirations, both personal and social, intersect.
