Tricks, optical effects, light games, attractions and special rooms, between science, physics and psychology, to have fun and learn, unveil the illusions of the mind and test the five senses.
Over seventy incredible attractions
The museum's collection consists of more than 70 attractions involving science, in particular physics and psychology. An interactive space, just a few steps away from the Basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore, able to engage visitors of all ages, whether they are science enthusiasts or simply curious.
An immersive place to experiment, laugh and create
The Museum of Illusions is not a static space, but a place open to active participation: here you are invited to experiment, laugh, be creative and do much of what is not normally allowed in a museum to dive into the world of the unexpected.
Amazing photos to post on your socials
The use of the camera is not only allowed, but is essential to fully enjoy the experience on offer, for example by taking amazing photos to post on social media.
The tour lasts about an hour and begins with the giant face of the dialect poet Trilussa following you with his gaze.
Instagrammable wonders and surprises
Among the rooms and installations set out on a single floor, you can enjoy wonders and surprises galore: play with your image in the mirror room, try to stand upright in the vortex tunnel, defy the laws of gravity in the rotated room, zoom in or out in the Ames room, experience the illusion of the 'head on a plate' and the hidden body.
The Museum of Illusions in Rome presents two exclusive attractions:
- the symmetry room - a room perceived as whole even though in reality we only see one half of it;
- the room of colours, one of the most 'Instagrammable' rooms in the museum where you can play with as many as three different coloured shadows.
