Davide Cenci

Davide Cenci left Umbria with his suitcase overflowing with his passion for clothes, transmitted to him by his mother, who had taken him to fashion trade shows since he was a child. In 1926, he opened a small shop specializing in shirts and pajamas in the center of Rome, not far from the Parliament building.

There he served Rome's prominent personalities, which had quickly come to rely on the young Cenci’s taste and style: the orders made by Trilussa and Benedetto Croce, who loved wearing the tailored shirts they found in his shop, are carefully conserved. The shop gradually expanded, offering its customers all the items of clothing they needed, at first just to men, and then to women. 

After World War II, Davide's sons, Paolo and Germano, took the helm of the company, and they broadened the business’ horizons by importing British clothing brands. 

In the 1950s, they created their very first “Davide Cenci” clothing line, followed by – in the new millennium – the equally prestigious “Dal 1926” line. Both stood out for the carefully chosen yarns and materials, as well as for the art of giving form to the fabrics, producing garments whose quality and elegance lasted over time. Their range of garments by the best clothing brands, was now complemented by a selection of clothing designed and produced entirely by them.

In 1982, they decided to take the brand abroad, opening their own boutique in New York, in the heart of Manhattan, and in 1990, they opened another one in Milan. By now, the Rome boutique in Via di Campo Marzio had an incredible 17 shop windows, and endless queues of customers, who were not willing to settle for anything less than the quality offered by Cenci.

In the meantime, the third generation had taken over. David, Giacomo, and Gabriele continue to search innovation and perfection, relying on the latest textile technologies to produce garments which combine functionality and elegance. Their e-commerce, always in step with the times, is above all aimed at the customers who’ve already had the pleasure of experiencing the Cenci family’s style advice in person.

Davide Cenci’s grandchildren proudly keep the promise of excellent, high-quality service made by their grandfather with his customers, which they continue to offer with equal professionalism.
