PaleoAquarium - Il Mare al Tempo dei Dinosauri

Get ready to travel back in time to prehistoric oceans, encounter extraordinary creatures and explore underwater worlds that seem straight out of a fantasy! At the University Museum of Earth Sciences in Rome, PaleoAquarium - Il Mare al Tempo dei Dinosauri (PaleoAquarium – The Sea in the Age of Dinosaurs) invites you to discover the extraordinary marine life that inhabited our planet millions of years ago.

A unique exhibition journey, this immersive experience brings together science, art and wonder, featuring more than 50 life-size reconstructions and spectacular works of palaeoart. Come face to face with long-extinct animals and imagine what the oceans of a distant prehistoric past might have looked like.

Conceived by palaeontologist Simone Maganuco and renowned paleoartist Davide Bonadonna, PaleoAquarium brings to life a fascinating story of the evolution of marine life.

And the surprises don’t stop there! Throughout the exhibition, an exciting programme of events and talks offers the opportunity to delve deeper into palaeontology and life in the ancient oceans. Schools are also given a special welcome, with guided tours and educational workshops designed for students of all ages and educational levels. These activities are developed by APPI in collaboration with Darwin Education, a cultural organisation dedicated to science communication, marine biology awareness and environmental conservation.

PaleoAquarium takes you on a journey of discovery through a lost world that still has incredible stories to tell about the origins and evolution of life.

The exhibition is organised by APPI – Associazione Paleontologica Paleoartistica Italiana, in collaboration with the Department of Earth Sciences at Sapienza University of Rome, and produced by Prehistoric Minds, a specialist organisation in the field. The initiative is also endorsed by leading scientific societies, including the Italian Geological Society, the Italian Palaeontological Society, AIQUA – the Italian Association for the Study of the Quaternary, and ANMS – the National Association of Scientific Museums.
