Exactly forty years after the first issue of one of the most beloved Italian comic books of all time, the Teatro Eliseo is staging the first show dedicated to Dylan Dog in a special production by Sergio Bonelli Editore, directed by Valter Malosti.
Created by Tiziano Sclavi, the “Nightmare Investigator” first appeared on newsstands on 26 September 1986, in his debut issue illustrated by Angelo Stano and featuring a cover by Claudio Villa. In this brand-new stage play, written by Tiziano Sclavi and Nicola Russo, Dylan Dog is forced to confront the ghosts of his own past in order to solve the case of a fascinating and mysterious client. The most important figures from his life will resurface: the women in his life (Anna Never, Morgana, Lillie Connolly, Bree Daniels), his nemesis Xabaras and his lifelong friends – Groucho, Inspector Bloch and Madame Trelkovski.
The cast includes Gabriele Graham Gasco as Dylan Dog, Loris Fabiani (Groucho), Marit Nissen (Veronika, the mysterious client), Ida Marinelli (Madame Trelkovski), Antonino Iuorio (Inspector Bloch), Dario Battaglia (Xabaras), Camilla Nigro (Bree Daniels), Beatrice Vecchione (Lillie Connolly), Annamaria Troisi (Morgana), Sofia Fusciani (Anna Never) and Danilo Nigrelli as a demon with multiple personalities. The musical accompaniment is provided by a power trio comprising Paolo Spaccamonti on guitar, Luca Cavina on bass and Jacopo Battaglia on drums.
An experiential space dedicated to the visual and narrative universe conceived by Tiziano Sclavi has been set up for the occasion in the theatre’s foyer, which is reopening after a long closure under the artistic direction of Alessandro Longobardi for Viola Produzioni - Centro di Produzione Teatrale.
