Fuori Centro – cinque quartieri di Roma da scoprire attraverso il cibo e il territorio (Off-Centre – Five Roman Neighborhoods to Discover Through Food and Local Culture)

The publishing house La Pecora Nera (The Black Sheep) is promoting Fuori Centro (Off-Centre), a new project dedicated to the discovery and promotion of Torre Maura, Acilia, Tufello, Spinaceto, and Primavalle, five Roman neighborhoods off the beaten path in the Capital.

Developed with the support of Rome Capital – Department of the Suburbs and with the involvement of Zètema Progetto Cultura, the project aims to shift the focus from Rome's most well-known neighborhoods to those rarely explored on traditional food and tourism itineraries. These neighborhoods, however, hold businesses, people, stories, and places worth exploring and promoting, in a context where food is the starting point for exploring the broader identity of these regions. Neighborhood markets, shops, restaurants, artisan workshops, producers, and local businesses thus become opportunities to connect gastronomy, local commerce, culture, associations, gathering spaces, and everyday life. Each event is designed based on the characteristics and specificities of the area, with one common thread: using food as a way to get to know the neighborhood, forging connections between those who live there every day and those who come from other parts of the city, and offering new opportunities for discovery.

The journey is accompanied by five videos, one for each neighborhood, led by a local guide. Through food and beverage outlets, markets, murals, associations, gyms, and cultural spaces, the videos showcase some of the most iconic places and experiences in the neighborhoods involved. The project also continues with the creation of a paper guide dedicated to the five neighborhoods, which will bring together the work undertaken and offer, for each area, a historical and narrative introduction, a selection of food venues, local businesses, and other useful information for further exploration of the area.

La Pecora Nera is an independent publishing house founded in 2003 in Rome, which has already numerous publications on food in the Capital.
