The Boncompagni Ludovisi House Museum hosts Echoes of the Palace, a prestigious musical series that, through five concerts, takes the audience on a fascinating sound journey through the history of the Boncompagni-Ludovisi family, from the second half of the sixteenth century to the twentieth century.
The project was born to enhance the historical, artistic, and cultural heritage of the House Museum, transforming it into a vibrant space for music, decorative arts, customs, and memory. The museum's rooms thus become a stage, capable of conveying to the public the atmosphere, splendour, and past glories of one of Italy's most important noble families.
The festival stands out for its original artistic approach: historical instruments such as strings, harpsichord, flutes, harp, and percussion are brought into dialogue with contemporary sounds, particularly those of the saxophone, in a musical journey spanning over four centuries, forming an ideal bridge between past and present, tradition and innovation. Particular emphasis is placed on the figure of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, linked to the history of the Boncompagni-Ludovisi family and the famous concert the young composer gave in Rome in 1770 at Palazzo Altemps. The festival also aims to pay homage to the patronage of Cardinal Ignazio Gaetano Boncompagni-Ludovisi, a leading figure in Roman cultural life in the eighteenth century. The presence of Sandro Cappelletto, a prominent music historian, who accompanies some of the concerts with readings and insights, enriches and complements the program, offering the audience enlightening listening tools.
The Boncompagni Ludovisi House Museum thus becomes the protagonist of a narrative that intertwines music, history, and identity. The encounter between masterpieces of the European repertoire, the museum's spaces, and art transforms each concert into an immersive experience, giving audiences a profound sense of beauty and cultural continuity.
