Eight neighbourhoods, over eighty events and tickets at a nominal price: in 2026, the Roma Borgata Festival returns once again to transform the capital’s summer into a long cultural journey off the beaten track.
The Roma Borgata Festival 2026 is a widespread programme bringing shows, talks and performances to Rome’s suburbs, with the aim of creating an alternative map of the city and bringing life to the outskirts and working-class neighbourhoods through accessible events, designed to transform squares, parks and everyday spaces into venues for shared culture.
Curated by Alessandra Muschella, the rich programme involves the neighbourhoods of Centocelle, Alessandrino, Primavalle, Montespaccato, Trullo, Magliana, Tor Marancia and Torpignattara, reaffirming its mission: to bring theatre, dance, music, contemporary circus, workshops and artist residencies into the spaces of everyday life.
Local markets, neighbourhood bars, Ater courtyards, urban parks and even a 1970s school bus become mobile and surprising stages.
The aim of the Roma Borgata Festival is not merely to organise events in the suburbs, but to bring the ‘borgata’ to the fore as a protagonist: a narrative space, a vibrant community, a place of memory and possibility.
