Created by Alice nella città in collaboration with and with the support of the Assessorato ai Grandi Eventi, Sport, Turismo e Moda (Major Events, Sport, Tourism and Fashion) of Roma Capitale, Fuori Sala offers a series of events leading up to and during the 23rd edition of the event, culminating in the arrival of Robert De Niro in Rome.
The rich programme includes meetings, readings aloud, literary presentations linked to cinema and books, the Womenlands awards and events dedicated to a new image of women in today's society.
In October, Fuori Sala takes place between Via Condotti, Piazza di Spagna, Via del Babuino, Via Margutta and Piazza del Popolo, while in November it moves to Via Veneto, Piazza Barberini and Via Bissolati.
Some of the city's most prestigious hotels and venues have also joined in and are ready to host the various initiatives.
Main activities and events:
- The Experiences: Via Condotti, Via del Babuino and Via Margutta are set up to welcome Fuori Sala guests, who can rediscover the historic centre and its streets, taking iconic photos and strolling along routes linked to fashion and the discovery of Rome and its historic shops.
- The Notte Bianca (White Night) in Via Margutta on 14 October will see more than 30 galleries open until midnight, with exhibitions, performances, experiences and readings linked to the Womenlands cycle. There will also be many events combining art, music and cinema.
- Womenlands: the format was created three years ago to highlight the new role of women in contemporary society, and the city's sensitivity to the issue of rights and inclusion will be articulated in various ways.
- Dal libro allo schermo (From book to screen) features books that have been adapted into films and TV series, some of which are scheduled to be shown at Alice nella città. Registi e attori che amano scrivere (Directors and actors who love to write) features Rocco Papaleo, who will present Perdere tempo mi viene facile, autobiografia musicata di un meridionale in libera uscita (Wasting time comes easily to me, the musical autobiography of a southern Italian on day release) The Premio Via Condotti (Via Condotti Award), established in 1977, is awarded annually to non-Romans who love Rome and are loved in return.
Fuori Sala ends in November in the Barberini area, one of Rome's most cinematic locations, hosting a major event in Via Veneto that sees the arrival in the city of Robert de Niro, Nobu Matsuisha and Meyer Teper, on the occasion of the traditional Kagami Biraki, the breaking of the sake barrel, an ancient Japanese ceremony symbolising harmony and good fortune.
All events are open to the public and admission is free until full capacity is reached, subject to reservation. During the event, a dedicated line will be available for Alice nella città accredited guests.
