The collection of the Museo Condominiale di Tor Marancia consists of 23 monumental murals realised by some of the most important international contemporary art artists. It is not simply a matter of decorating facades: each building becomes a work of art, transforming the entire complex into a single great artistic creation.
The interventions involve the facades of the eleven public housing buildings of the Tor Marancia district, built in 1947 and still inhabited by families and citizens who are an integral part of this collective project. Financed by the Fondazione Roma, curated by Francesca Mezzano and managed by the TormarArte Association, the Museo Condominiale di Tor Marancia represents a virtuous example of urban regeneration, social participation and dialogue between art and territory.
The works tell stories of everyday life, collective memory and hope, giving new identity and vitality to the district, which has now become an open-air museum and a reference point for cultural and social tourism. An explosion of creativity that has directly involved the inhabitants, active protagonists in the choice, realisation and daily care of this extraordinary heritage.
The Museo Condominiale di Tor Marancia is not just a place to visit but a constantly evolving collective story, where art blends with everyday life and restores the most authentic soul to the neighbourhood. The collection includes interventions by Michelangelo Pistoletto / Cittadellarte, Raymundo Sesma, Moneyless, Mr Klevra, Uman, Seth, Vhils, Alberonero, Jerico, Matteo Basilé, Philippe Baudelocque, Clemens Behr, Best Ever, Danilo Bucchi, Caratoes, Diamond, Domenico Romeo, Brad Downey, Gaia, Guido Van Helten, Jaz, Lek & Sowat, Pantonio, Reka and SatOne, who have contributed to the urban and cultural transformation of the district with their works.
The project is completed with street furniture by Carmelo Baglivo, gardens designed by landscape architect Marco Rossi for Italwork, and lighting realised under the direction of Claudio Cocca.
The Museo Condominiale project collaborates on an ongoing basis with Ater di Roma and Municipio Roma 8 to promote territorial paths, social innovation and training. The project is part of the territorial framework as a premise for a social incubator in progress.
