Parco d'affaccio del Foro Italico

The Foro Italico overlook park is the perfect place to take a walk and discover a unique natural habitat, far from the chaos of the city but in the centre of Rome, to take a regenerating ride along the Tiber, discovering its biodiversity, to relax and take a break to contemplate nature on a bench, among wide pathways and suggestive panoramic terraces surrounded by greenery.

Situated on the right bank of the Tiber, between Ponte Milvio and Ponte Duca d'Aosta, the Foro Italico is the park with a sporting vocation of Roma Capitale, both because of the urban context that surrounds it, which includes the Stadio dei Marmi and the Stadio Olimpico, and because of its proximity to the cycle and pedestrian path of Via Capoprati.

Inaugurated on 18 June 2025, it is the last of the five large urban parks overlooking the Tiber to have been realised thanks to Jubilee funds. The works that ensured its opening saw the complete redevelopment and enhancement of the area it extends over 1.6 hectares, a redevelopment that also involved the banks of the river, now no longer an urban boundary detached from the city context, but a fully enjoyable, liveable and healthy backbone of ecological, social and landscape connection. The design choices were in fact conceived to implement the biodiversity and sustainability of the river environment and to favour the creation of a resilient and ecologically balanced green ecosystem.

The interventions involved the overlooking terraces, which were completely redeveloped, and included the creation of a long square, ready to host public events and moments of sociability. In addition, professional fitness equipment was installed, perfect for the training of fitness enthusiasts and sportsmen in general.

New linear seating, plants, and lighting designed to ensure the safety of citizens even late in the evening and to enhance the extraordinary Roman river landscape by renaturalising its banks and restoring its nature have also been installed.

Finally, the safety and functionality of the travertine steps leading to the bank and the second quay, which emerged and enhanced as a result of the works, was restored.

The main entrance to the Foro Italico Overlook Park is located along the pedestrian path in Via del Foro Italico 501.

The intervention, as with the other parks, is part of the Tiber Strategic Masterplan, which envisages a profound transformation of the urban stretch of the river into an uninterrupted linear river park.
