The parish was erected on March 28, 1963 with the decree of the Cardinal Vicar Clemente Micara Ad uberius animarum and was entrusted to the diocesan clergy of Rome.
The territory, derived from that of the parishes of S. Maria Addolorata, S. Maria della Misericordia and S. Ireneo a Centocelle, was determined within the following boundaries: Via Prenestina from Via Olevano Romano to Via Bresadola, which is followed up to the height of Via Giovanni Passerini, and which in turn is followed to reach Via Tor de’ Schiavi - from here you reach the height of Via delle Rose and take its continuation that divides the new part from the old part of the I.C.P. buildings. You then continue until you join the ideal continuation of Via Olevano Romano towards which you head by crossing Via Anagni. You rejoin Via Prenestina by following the entire length of Via Olevano Romano, keeping in mind that the buildings on both sides of the latter belong to the new parish. The property is owned by the Pont. Opera for the Preservation of the Faith and the Provision of New Churches in Rome. The architectural project is by Francesco Fornari.
