The parish was erected on 5 November 1971 by decree of Cardinal Vicar Angelo Dell'Acqua Neminem fugit and entrusted to the diocesan clergy of Rome.
The new parish building, built thanks to a donation by Marquis Gerini, and designed by engineer Ignazio Breccia Fratadocchi, was inaugurated by Cardinal Ugo Poletti on 10 May 1992. The Holy Father John Paul II presided over the rite of dedication of the new church on Sunday 15 November 1992. By decree of the Cardinal Vicar Camillo Ruini of 1 October 1991, the territory of the parish was determined within the following new boundaries:
Starting from via Guglielmo Marconi, via Alberto Einstein and ideal continuation of the same street up to the river Tiber - river Tiber, in the direction of Ponte Guglielmo Marconi, up to the height of via Vincenzo Brunacci which is reached by a short street - said street - via G. Bagnera - via F. Grimaldi - piazza E. Fermi - viale Guglielmo Marconi - via Alberto Einstein.
Recognition for civil effects was decreed on 13 November 1973
