The parish was erected on 13 July 1950 by decree of Cardinal Vicar Francesco Marchetti Selvaggiani Universo gregi and entrusted to the diocesan clergy of Rome. The church was consecrated by H.E. Archbishop Luigi Traglia, Titular Archbishop of Caesarea, Vicegerent, on 18 March 1957. The territory, taken from that of the parishes of S. Emerenziana, SS. Redentore in Val Melaina and S. Cuore Immacolato di Maria ai Parioli, by decree of Card. Vicar Angelo Dell'Acqua on 20 November 1970, was determined within the following new boundaries, by decree of Cardinal Vicar Camillo Ruini, on 1 October 2007.The recognition for civil effects of the vicariate provision was decreed on 24 December 1954. The real estate is owned by the Pont. Opera per la Preservazione della Fede e la Provision di nuove Chiese in Roma. The architectural project is by Mario Paniconi and Giulio Pediconi.
