‘My family was from Trani...’: this is the incipit, entrusted to the recorded voice of Astor Piazzolla, of the show Tango. Historias de Astor with which Argentine dancer and choreographer Miguel Ángel Zotto, a living legend of the tango, pays tribute to the Argentine musician and composer of Italian origin Astor Pantaléon Piazzolla, who was born in Mar Del Plata in 1921 and died in Buenos Aires in 1992.
On the stage of the Teatro Olimpico, for the season of the Accademia Filarmonica Romana, Miguel Ángel Zotto talks about Astor Piazzolla, the undisputed father of the modern tango.
Together with the life of Astor Piazzolla, Zotto will bring to the stage the story of a musical genre and a dance that is thevery essence of Argentina.
The narration of the performance will be led by an angel, identified as the angel of the tango, to whom Astor tells his life story from his childhood to his encounter with the tango, from the orchestras in which he played to the direction of the Florentine Orchestra to the staging of Maria de Buenos Aires.
