An increasingly “digital, reliable, data-driven and sustainable” airport: Rome Fiumicino Airport consolidates its leadership in Europe by winning for the sixth time since 2018 the Best Airport Award in the category of hubs serving over 40 million passengers, an award shared ex-aequo with iGA Istanbul International Airport.
The winners were announced by ACI EUROPE, the European region of the Airport Council International trade association that represents more than 500 airports in 55 countries and awards every year airports that have achieved excellence in various fields. An independent jury of six experts working in the European aviation industry recognized the Roman airport operator’s commitment to operations and customer experience, the development of new “green” infrastructure and cutting-edge initiatives, and attention to sustainability and inclusion.
Thanks to its investments in digitization and adoption of the most innovative technologies to improve the safety, efficiency and environmental impact of its processes, Leonardo da Vinci Airport also won this year’s “Digital Transformation Award”, the prize sponsored by the SESAR Joint Undertaking public-private partnership in collaboration with ACI EUROPE.
