Chiesa di San Giovanni della Ficozza

The building is already mentioned in a document from 1199 as San Joannes De Ficoccia, on account of the noble Roman family of the De Ficocciis who lived in this area and whose abbot was a member of the church itself. In 1584, Pope Gregory XIII granted the church to the Maronites of Lebanon, thus forming a single complex with the adjacent Maronite hospital turned into a seminary for the training of clergy destined to go on missions to the East.

In the 18th century, the complex was renovated, until it was first occupied for civilian use by the Republicans in 1798 and then by Napoleon's soldiers in 1808. In 1846, Pius IX re-consecrated the church, allocating the college to the Polish-Slovenian seminary. After 1870, the entire complex was again used for civil purposes. Today the building is home to a restaurant.
