The Teatro dell'Opera di Roma, as part of the Summer Season at the Baths of Caracalla, to celebrate the hundredth anniversary of George Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue, presents this concert directed by Wayne Marshall who, in the dual role of pianist and conductor, pays homage the great American composer.
Wayne Marshall, who is one of the most successful interpreters of the American composer, offers a selection of songs from other famous works by Gershwin, such as Porgy and Bess, An American in Paris and the overture from the musical Girl Crazy.
Composed by George Gershwin in 1924, when he was very young, the Rhapsody in Blue is a musical composition for piano and orchestra which harmonizes elements of classical music with those of jazz music.
