Art, sea and nature: a vacation in Rome according to Forbes

depuis 26 Mars 2024 à 30 Septembre 2024

Rome is a city with a thousand attractions, just think of its archaeological areas, its extraordinary Baroque churches, and its elegant squares and fountains. But its beauty is not only made up of monuments, history and culture: even Forbes, one of the world’s most famous magazines on business culture, entrepreneurial leadership, innovation and lifestyle, born more than a hundred years ago and become known for its annual ranking of the world’s richest men, has noticed this.

In a recently published magazine article on how to combine city and beach vacations in 2024, Rome is the first destination suggested in Italy for taking in the cultural riches of a major art destination without giving out to the “dolce far niente” vibe of a stunning waterfront locale. In addition to its historical-archaeological heart, the Italian capital also has a marine soul. It is enough to move away from the city center and travel a few kilometers to find an entire coastline of enchanting beaches, for example in Santa Severa or in Anzio, once a vacation spot for the Roman Emperor Nero and noted for its Bandiera Blu (Blue Flag) beaches.

The easiest beaches to reach, either by car or by the Rome-Lido train, are of course the long stretches of sand of Lido di Ostia, the Roman terrace on the sea, a neighborhood that is a small city with rationalist and Art Nouveau architecture and an uninterrupted promenade of colorful umbrellas, excellent restaurants and cocktail bars. For those who don’t want to give up art and culture even for a day, before a rejuvenating swim, an aperitif by the sea or a seafood dinner, it is possible to visit Ostia Antica with its quaint Renaissance village and the spectacular Archaeological Park area.
