Compiled by Resonance Consultancy, one of the world’s leading consultancy groups studying the development of cities and districts with a multidisciplinary approach, Europe’s Best Cities Report is a ranking of the best European cities in which to travel, live and invest based on an original methodology that analyzes statistics, user-generated reviews, social media and online activity. In the top spot in the 2024 edition, published on 5 March, London is first for the second year in a row, but Rome took a decisive leap up the rankings. Compared to 2023, the city has in fact gained four positions, coming close to the podium and ranking fourth after Paris and Berlin.
The city’s monuments and its millennial past are elements that contributed to the new ranking. However, the ranking takes into account the three key areas of livability, lovability and prosperity and covers every aspect of the cities, from quality of life to housing affordability, green spaces and nightlife to social media presence, investment opportunities, economic accessibility of housing, green spaces, nightlife and even social media activity managed by the municipality. Resonance Consultancy pointed out that Rome has received excellent reviews on TripAdvisor and offers green areas and tree-lined streets. As for the entrepreneurial aspect, a number of luxury hotels have opened in the city in the past year.
