To admire the city center from a new perspective and breathe cleaner air, you can choose to walk or perhaps use a scooter or bicycle. The so-called Ecological Sundays, the measure created to alleviate air pollution and at the same time make people aware of the issues of environmental sustainability, the responsible use of energy sources and the actions needed to improve air quality, will be back again in 2024. On 14 January, 25 February and 24 March (that is, the ecological Sundays scheduled for 2024), from 7.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. (until 11.30 a.m. the morning of 14 January) and from 4.30 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. there will be a total ban on the circulation of vehicles with internal combustion engines, including Euro 6 according to the ordinance issued by the Mayor of Roma Capitale Roberto Gualtieri. The ban applies in the “Green Belt”, which includes the historic city center, the area inside the railway ring and some other areas inside the Grande Raccordo Anulare. Taxis, NCCs, electric, hybrid or car-sharing vehicles, cars with a badge for the disabled or employed by doctors are some of the categories for which an exemption is envisaged.
