The Ecomuseum of the Roman Coastlines was founded in 1988 by the Consorzio di Bonifica (Land-reclamation Syndicate) of Ostia Antica and is dedicated to the evolution of the Tiber delta and to the hydraulic land-reclamation that took place at the end of the nineteenth century. The museum includes drawings, geographic tables and charts, a permanent photographic exhibit on the foundation and the development of Lido di Ostia; a collection of work-tools used by the first reclaimers that came from Romagna. The entrance to the museum includes also a visit to the coast-line water canalization system and to the surrounding area that was reclaimed. The creation of three additional spaces dedicated to naturalistic aspects, the ports, and the Agro Romano (Countryside around Rome) are being planned.
