As tradition dictates, on Epiphany Day the Corsa del Giocattolo (Toy Run) returns, one of the most beloved running events in the Italian capital.
In 2026, the event reaches a significant milestone, celebrating its 48th edition in one of Rome’s most enchanting locations: Villa Borghese. Participants will run along the charming, tree-lined avenues set in the greenery of this extraordinary Roman park, with both the start and finish at the spectacular Pincian Terrace, offering breathtaking views over the very heart of the city.
The event takes the form of a 5-kilometre non-competitive run, to be completed at a free and relaxed pace, with no pressure and no timing. The start is scheduled for 11:00 am, and the run is open to everyone – from regular runners to those who simply wish to enjoy a pleasant morning outdoors, celebrating movement, community and solidarity.
Since its very first edition in 1976, the run has remained true to its original spirit: charity. The event is organised by the Cral Inps of the General Directorate, the historic promoter of the initiative, with the constant and invaluable support of the Italian Red Cross – Rome Committee, whose contribution is essential to the success of the event.
Participation is simple yet deeply meaningful: to register, participants are asked to donate a toy, either new or used but in good condition. All donated toys are collected by Red Cross volunteers and later distributed to paediatric hospitals in Rome and family homes, bringing smiles to many children on the very day traditionally associated with gifts.
This is therefore a run that goes far beyond sport, becoming a genuine gesture of sharing and care for others, capable of bringing together different generations in one great celebration.
