With its 2,300 years of history and 600 kilometers crossing four Italian regions (Lazio, Campania, Basilicata and Puglia), the Via Appia Antica preserves a historical, archaeological, architectural and environmental heritage that is unique in the world, officially recognised in 2024 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Since 2016, the Appia Day widespread festival has celebrated the charm and enchantment of the ancient Roman consular road, ideally uniting distant places and communities, from Rome to Brindisi, in an itinerary combining archaeology and sustainable rediscovery of the territory, involving thousands of people and dozens of local and national organisations every year.
The 2025 edition pays tribute to ten years of passion, discovery, culture and community with a wide-ranging and inclusive program that transforms the most evocative street of antiquity into a huge open-air stage for a day. From guided tours to family activities, from open-air theatre to bike tours, each event has been designed to offer engaging experiences for visitors of all ages and interests, to tell a piece of the story of the “Regina Viarum”, share stories and experience the area with a new perspective.
