Officially started with the opening of the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica on 24 December 2024, the Jubilee 2025 is the 27th ordinary universal jubilee in the history of the Church.
The entire jubilee period is characterized by a rich calendar of religious, cultural and social events. Aside from celebrations and rituals addressed to all the faithful, the Holy Year’s program includes several “jubilees” dedicated to different categories of people, identified according to specific professions or their role within the family, the Church and society. Each one includes moments of dialogue and spirituality, with a concluding mass celebrated by the pope.
The day of 20 September is dedicated to all those involved in the world of the law and secular, canonical and ecclesiastical justice (judges, public prosecutors, magistrates, lawyers, legal practitioners, etc.), who are invited to participate in the jubilee events together with their families. From 9:00 to 10:30 a.m., participants can receive the sacrament of reconciliation in the atrium of the Paul VI Hall (access to the Hall from 7:30 a.m. from the Petriano Entrance in Piazza del Santo Uffizio). The Paul VI Hall will then host a lecture by Archbishop Juan Ignacio Arrieta on the theme “Iustitia Imago Dei: the legal profession, Instrument of Hope” introduced by Archbishop Rino Fisichella, from 10:30 to 11 a.m., and at noon, the audience with the Holy Father Leo XIV. In the afternoon, until 6 p.m., it will be possible to make a pilgrimage to the Holy Door of St. Peter’s Basilica.
