Roma Capitale celebrates the 80th Anniversary of the Liberation of Italy from Nazi-Fascism with over 80 events over three days, with free admission, in the heart of the San Lorenzo district, a symbolic place of the partisan struggle in the city.
Reflecting on the past, celebrating the values of the Resistance and strengthening collective memory, Rome commemorates the 80th Anniversary of the Liberation of Italy from Nazi-Fascism with the third edition of the Festa della Resistenza (Resistance Day).
More than 80 events, with free admission - lectures, meetings, shows, concerts, readings, screenings and activities for children - are scheduled to evoke and share the founding values of the Italian Resistance, in one of the very places that saw the partisans fight with courage.
Festa della Resistenza 2025 is an unmissable opportunity to revive a collective memory that has shaped the identity of this neighbourhood and the entire city. It will take place in a number of symbolic locations in San Lorenzo - Parco dei Caduti del 19 luglio 1943, Piazza dei Sanniti, Piazza dell'Immacolata and others - where the scars of the bombings are still tangible, bearing witness to the struggle for freedom waged with determination by thousands of women and men between 1943 and 1945.
An event that constitutes a powerful means of connecting past and present, transmitting to new generations the spirit of those who opposed the occupation, always remembering that the values of freedom, equality and democracy, celebrated during the Resistance, remain vital and current pillars, continuing to shape our society.
The event, realised with the programme coordination of Silvia Barbagallo and with the scientific contribution of Michela Ponzani, will host protagonists from the world of culture and artists, to offer insights and narratives on one of the most significant moments in Italian and European history. This edition's guests include: Edoardo Albinati, Corrado Augias, Francesco Cancellato, Gianrico Carofiglio, Ascanio Celestini, Davide Conti, Marco Damilano, Erri De Luca, Paolo Di Paolo, Andrea Fabozzi, Emiliano Fittipaldi, Anna Foa, Fulminacci, Umberto Gentiloni, Massimo Giannini, Lucia Goracci, Luciano Ligabue, Lillo, Luigi Manconi, Francesca Mannocchi, Ilaria Moroni, Motta, Andrea Pennacchi, Alessandro Portelli, Vanessa Scalera, Andrea Scanzi, Pietro Sermonti, Benedetta Tobagi, Fabio Tonacci, Tosca, Nicoletta Verna and Paolo Virzì.
