The great Iranian musician and composer Pejman Tadayon returns to the Auditorium Parco della Musica with his Ensemble, to present his latest work When Rumi meets St. Francis.
The show features original texts by Saint Francis and Rumi, translated from Persian, which highlight the connections, affinities and common origin of their inspiration. In fact, the two great mystic figures, through poetry and the mysterious analogies which links it, have brought an unparalleled spiritual impetus to their peoples; the element of music, on the other hand, gives life to their inspiration through a universal language that brings together and harmonizes two traditions that are only apparently distant from each other. The show is also enriched by interventions of Sufi dance on stage at particular moments.
Tadayon composed and selected the pieces for this show using ancient and traditional instruments of Sufi culture such as ney (flute), oud (lute), santur (percussion instrument), daf (large frame drum), along with other medieval instruments such as the vielle and the flutes.
Pejman Tadayon Formation: singing, oud, saz, ney, daf; Federico Pascucci: ney, clarinet; Barbara Eramo: singing; Luigi Polsini: fiddle, viola da gamba; Massimiliano Barbaliscia: santur; Simone Pulvano: percussion; Vittoria Iavicoli, Silvia Layla: Sufi dances; Luca Attadia: narrator; Persepolis Choir; Special Guest: Barbara Eramo.
