Super-challenges, thrills and unforgettable moments are the keywords of the Guinness Six Nations, the most important and oldest international 15-a-side rugby tournament in the Northern Hemisphere, now firmly established in the calendar of major sporting events held every year in Rome and involving an ever-growing number of fans. Originating in the late 19th century as the Home Nations Championship, the competition was initially contested by only the four teams from the British Isles (England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland). With the subsequent inclusion of France, the tournament changed its name and became known as the Five Nations. The current name dates back to 2000, the year of the debut of the Italian national team, which is therefore celebrating the 25th anniversary of its first participation this year.
As is customary, each of the six teams will face each other only once in the biggest stadiums of the six capital cities. For the Italian national team coached by Gonzalo Quesada and fresh from their excellent results in 2024 (their best ever performance), the calendar for the 2025 edition includes three home matches. After facing Wales and France on 8 February and 23 February in the second and third round home matches, the Azzurri are going to take the field again at the Stadio Olimpico on the final day of the tournament, the traditional Super Saturday, which features three consecutive matches that could decide the 2025 title. On 15 March at 3.15 p.m., two days before the St Patrick’s Day celebrations, Italy will face Ireland, the national team winners of the tournament in 2024 for the second year running.
During the match days of the Six Nations, the Peroni Nastro Azzurro Terzo Tempo Village set up in the Foro Italico area is ready to host fans all day long with events, activities, music, entertainment and maxi-screens to watch the other matches.
