In the heart of autumn, Notte Bianca celebrates contemporary creation by showcasing the work of the sixteen scholarship holders in residence at Villa Medici in the fields of visual and plastic arts, music, literature and art history. On 28 November, Villa Medici is transformed into a place where contemporary art, heritage and landscape resonate in unison.
The Notte Bianca is planned as a walk through the gardens and historic spaces of Villa Medici, with some private spaces, such as the scholars' studios, exceptionally open to the public for the occasion. Performances, readings, concerts, installations and projections punctuate the Notte Bianca, inviting the public to enjoy a sensorial experience. In the darkness of the evening, the silhouettes of ancient statues and bicentenary pines mingle with the play of light, shapes and sounds coming from the garden paths, loggias and halls.
