Lime publishes data from the first half of 2024 on European zero-emission shared micro-mobility: Milan in fourth place, Rome second after Paris.
Scooter and bike sharing are a sustainable and environmentally friendly way to move between home and work, especially appreciated by commuters in the major European capitals who choose them as an alternative means of transport to car ownership.
According to data from Lime, a leading company in the micromobility sector, in the first six months of 2024, the ranking sees Paris on the top step of the podium with the highest number of kilometres travelled, 14 million, followed by Rome with 5 million kilometres.
In Rome, for example, users have opted for micro-mobility, thus avoiding half a million car journeys and reducing CO2 emissions by tonnes.
As for the motivations of Romans who prefer bike and scooter sharing to other modes of transport, there are commuting for 23% of citizens, conviviality-related trips to cafes or restaurants, 18%, sustainability, 17%, and shopping, 10%.
