The wonderful Nymphaeum of Villa dei Quintili on the Appian Way is the setting for the Opera Gala, an event combining Italian opera and Chinese songs, featuring Soprano Bing Bing Wang, Tenor Warren Mok, Mezzo-soprano Ashley Chui, Tenor Wesley Lam, and Roland Cheung on piano.
The Euro Mediterranean Festival, founded in 2001 by the Italian director and set designer Enrico Castiglione, has been, for over twenty years, one of the most prestigious live entertainment events not only in Italy, but in the entire Euro-Mediterranean region, thanks to an exclusive program of performances that in over twenty editions has offered an extremely rich and varied program of operas, concerts, dance, theater, cinema, and events featuring the most celebrated artists of our time.
Throughout its history, the Euro Mediterranean Festival has seen world-renowned artists perform on its stage, such as Lorin Maazel, Montserrat Caballé, José Carreras, Zubin Mehta, Cecilia Gasdia, Placido Domingo, David Gimenez, Boris Brott, Enrico Castiglione, Renato Bruson, Tamas Pal, Katia Ricciarelli, Ennio Morricone, Uto Ughi, as well as prestigious orchestras such as the Philharmonia Orchestra of London, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestra del Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Filarmonica Arturo Toscanini, the Symphonica Arturo Toscanini, the Hungarian Symphony Orchestra, the Izmir Symphony Orchestra, ensembles and dance groups such as the New York City Ballet, the Anzelika Cholina Dance Theatre Company, the Astor Piazzolla Ensemble, the Corps de Ballet of the Moiseev Classical Ballet, the Compania de Flamenco Joaquin Ruiz, the José Greco Dance Company, étoiles such as Alessandra Ferri, Julio Bocca, Roberto Bolle, not to mention the dozens of groups, dance companies, chamber orchestras, theater companies and artists of every category and genre from every part of the Mediterranean and the world.
