Ponte della Magliana (223,62 mt long and 19,25 mt wide) connects the Portuense Quarter with the Via del Mare and the EUR Quarters. It rests on 7 reinforced concrete arches covered with travertine and the central arch is movable. The construction started in 1930 in anticipation of the World Fair that was planned to take place in the EUR Quarter in 1942. The works however proceeded among enormous difficulties due to the river floods and later to the war events. In fact on September 8, 1943 the Germans damaged the bridge severely. The reconstruction works were resumed in 1945 and were completed in 1948.
