On January 6, on the occasion of the Epiphany, a unique and magical event takes place in San Salvatore in Lauro: the descent of the Befana from the roof of the Sanctuary.
In the afternoon, in the square in front of the church, the Befana descends from the roof, distributing sweets and candies to the children present, in a festive atmosphere and wrapped in the charm of the Christmas holidays. Included among the traditional events of piazza Navona, the descent of the Befana from San Salvatore in Lauro represents a moment of great emotion for young and old people; it represents in fact, an opportunity to meet and share the joy of Christmas, as well as an initiative that tends to enhance the historic centre of Rome and its traditions.
The event is made possible thanks to the collaboration of the Fire Brigade and Civil Protection.
