After the extraordinary success of last season, the most famous musical in theatre history returns to the stage of the Teatro Sistina in the great production signed and adapted by director Massimo Romeo Piparo.
Based on Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats, Nobel Prize winner Thomas Stearns Eliot's book, the show is set in Rome, in a hypothetical and futuristic 'landfill' of works of art and archaeological finds, with the Colosseum in the background: during one special night of the year, an irresistible colony of cats, singing and dancing, gathers at the Jellicle Ball, where their wise leader Old Deuteronomy decides and announces who among them will be reborn to a new life as Jellicle.
On stage, an exceptional cast of performers gives life to a story of incredible magic, drama and romance, with spectacular settings, special effects and the breathtaking choreography by the famous Billy Mitchell, to the notes of Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber's splendid music - including the moving Memory - performed by the live Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Emanuele Friello.
Since 1982, the year of its Broadway debut, where it has long held world records for audiences, box office grosses and consecutive repeats, Cats is still among the top four most performed musicals worldwide and, throughout its history, has captivated more than 73 million people in over 300 cities in the world.
