Cinema in Piazza, the event organized and promoted by the Fondazione Piccolo America, celebrates its tenth edition by bringing to four locations in the city a rich program with films in original language with Italian subtitles and Italian films with English subtitles.
85 screenings, 22 special encounters and 12 retrospectives will animate from 1 June to 14 July the historic Piazza di San Cosimato in Trastevere, the Parco della Cervelletta in Tor Sapienza, the Parco di Monte Ciocci in Valle Aurelia and the Cinema Troisi, which this year is the fourth venue of the event.
Admission to the screenings is free, except for the special events at the Cinema Troisi. The cultural offer looks to the cinema of the past, to offer spectators the opportunity to rediscover the great classics, and at the same time proposes new Italian and international independent works, never before distributed on the big screen or with a troubled distribution history.
Among the great guests involved are American director and actor Edward Norton, director Francesco Zippel in dialogue with journalist Veronica Gentili, the two Oscar winners Damien Chazelle and Paolo Sorrentino, Alessandro Borghi and Luca Marinelli.
The event is held under the High Patronage of the European Parliament, with the support of the Department for Youth Policies and Universal Civil Service - Presidency of the Council of Ministers and Roma Capitale, under the patronage of the Ministry of Culture, the Lazio Region, and the Rome Chamber of Commerce.
