Quo Vadis? Al cinema nel cuore di Roma 2025

From 8 to 18 July, the evocative Temple of Venus, an extraordinary monument of Imperial Rome, hosts the fourth edition of QUO VADIS? Al cinema nel cuore di Roma, the festival promoted by CSC - Cineteca Nazionale and Parco Archeologico del Colosseo.

The event, with free admission,  takes the audience on an engaging experience, portraying the bond between fable and dream through the eyes of great directors. On the programme are ten films from different periods, introduced each evening by experts and personalities from the world of cinema, culture and television, and moderated by Caterina Taricano, tracing the interpretations of the oneiric and the fairy-tale.

Among the great protagonists of the big screen are Federico Fellini, with the iconic “8½” and his performance in Rossellini's 'Il miracolo', and Pier Paolo Pasolini, with 'La ricotta' and the picaresque 'Uccellacci e uccellini', accompanied by Matteo Garrone's fairytale-like 'Il racconto dei racconti- Tales of Tales’, Paola Cortellesi's brilliant ‘Ma cosa ci dice il cervello’, Nanni Moretti's ‘Sogni d'oro’ and Damiano and Fabio D'Innocenzo's ‘Favolacce’.

The programme also includes the irony and grotesque of ‘Casotto’ by Sergio Citti, the symbolic portrait of Ukraine, through the vision of the artist Kazimir Malevych, in 'Malevych' by Darya Onyshchenko, up to the silent and melodramatic enchantment of ‘'A Santanotte’ by Elvira Notari, with musical accompaniment to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the birth of the first female director in the history of Italian cinema.
