
Four days of immersive experiences, talks and augmented reality activities, audiovisual shows, installations and original video mapping, looking ahead to the languages of tomorrow: Videocittà, the Festival of Vision and Digital Culture, conceived by Francesco Rutelli with creative direction by Francesco Dobrovich, returns to enliven Rome’s Gazometro, Europe’s largest industrial archaeology site, transforming it into a hub of cultural innovation.
Since its inception in 2018, the festival has welcomed over 550 artists, establishing itself as a laboratory for emerging talent. The 2025 edition celebrates the 800th anniversary of St. Francis’ Canticle of the Creatures and focuses on the Sun as a symbol of life, light and energy. The large site-specific installation that characterizes each edition of the festival is created this year by Roman artist Quayola: Solar is inspired by the optical phenomenon of twilight rays and reproduces an infinite cycle of digital sunrises and sunsets.
Among the many events and appointments scheduled, the highly anticipated DJ set by Maneskin bassist Victoria De Angelis, the Virtual Reality Experiences curated by Anna Lea Antolini, Jan Kounen’s virtual adventure Ayahuasca-Kosmic Journey, the dynamic and immersive exhibition The Best Internet Ever, ENO, the generative documentary about Brian Eno conceived and directed by Gary Hustwit, and the interactive performance #Alphaloop_VR by French artist Adelin Schweitzer, inspired by theories on cybernetic shamanism.
