
Starting from Tuesday, May 13, the Colosseum Archaeological Park reopens its gates to nighttime visits to the Flavian Amphitheater with the initiative A Night at the Colosseum. The guided tour, lasting about 60 minutes, also for this edition will take place along the first level of the monument, the arena floor and the underground areas.
The guided tours are mainly dedicated to the story of the amphitheatre from the point of view of the spectators and protagonists of the shows that took place throughout the day, including venationes (hunts) and munera (gladiatorial combats); in fact there will be a focus especially on this last theme.
The itinerary starts from the North fornix, once the Emperor's main entrance, with a further study of the imperial entrance and the stucco decorations still present. Here, from the arena floor, you can have a complete view of the cavea and a story of the shows offered by the emperors; continuing then in the underground, the visit allows you to explore the new permanent exhibition entitled Shows in the Colosseum Arena. The protagonists, curated by Alfonsina Russo, Federica Rinaldi and Barbara Nazzaro.
